I am so excited to be writing my first blog post for my little store.
If you have already been to our 'About Us' page you will already know how the idea for Minime Organics came about. A tough time with our beautiful little boy sent me on a food journey which I have been living and loving ever since.
As a family we have embraced a whole food, clean diet and that has meant a lot of changes (and a lot of convincing of the husband) and a lot of work to meals, snacks and the dreaded school lunchbox.
There has been a lot of trial and error, many, many, cooking disasters and the odd tantrum from my two boys who have had to get used to a lot of new tastes, textures and the dreaded statement of 'guess what, mummy has a new recipe for us to try tonight'.
However, it is a journey that I have cried and laughed through, I'm not entirely sure who has shed more tears, me or the children. However, perseverance has paid off and my younger son who at the sight of a bit of broccoli and brown rice would tell me he was going to vomit (I'm not joking) now happily chows through a quinoa salad and tells me he loves it (I'm still not joking, he really does!) So, for anyone reading this lamenting that their child won't ever look at a bowl of quinoa with glee be reassured, little by little, it can be done.
Knowing how hard it is to transition from a regular diet to a whole food diet my hope is to fill this blog with tips and tricks and recipes that can save you time and can take the stress out of the daily struggle of what to put in the lunchbox and what is for dinner that will a) be healthy b) be flavoursome and c) won't send children into a screaming heap when they look at what's on their plate!
I look forward to sharing my families food journey with you and setting our children up with healthy eating habits for life......
